Tips for RSA demos

This demo is educational only — not for production keys.

Never paste real private keys into a browser demo.

RSA needs proper padding; toy examples omit hard parts.

Key size and library choice matter enormously in real systems.

Use battle-tested crypto libraries for anything serious.

Tiny RSA to see the idea, not to protect data

Processing stays in your browser — your input is not uploaded to our servers.

RSA uses a key pair: public to encrypt (or verify), private to decrypt (or sign). This demo uses small numbers so the math is visible.

Real RSA needs large primes, padding, and a proper library. Never paste production private keys here.

Walk through the RSA demo

  1. Generate or inspect the toy keys

Small moduli are intentional so you can see encrypt → decrypt on one screen.

  2. Encrypt a short sample

Use a few characters. This is not a file encryptor.

  3. Decrypt with the matching private key

A mismatched key fails on purpose — that is the lesson.

RSA demo FAQ

Can I use these keys in production?

No. Toy sizes are breakable. Use Web Crypto or a vetted library with standard key sizes.

Is my message uploaded?

No. The demo runs in the browser.

Why is the message length limited?

Textbook RSA without hybrid encryption only fits tiny payloads. Real systems encrypt a symmetric key instead.
