Tips for security checklists
Adapt the template to your stack — delete irrelevant items.
Assign an owner and due date for each open item.
Revisit the checklist after major releases or incidents.
Track evidence (links, screenshots) next to completed items.
Prefer a few consistent reviews over a giant unused list.
A starting security checklist, not an audit report
The markdown list covers access, devices, data, network, and incident basics so a small team can track work. It is a template — delete rows that do not apply.
Assign owners in your tracker. A downloaded file that nobody updates is decoration.
Use the security checklist
Read the sections
Drop items that are irrelevant to your stack instead of faking completion.
Adapt names and dates
Put real systems, owners, and the next review date in the text.
Download and track
Keep it in git or a ticket tracker with evidence links, not only in chat.
Security checklist FAQ
Does this replace a pentest?
No. It is hygiene tracking. Independent review is a different engagement.
Is my filled checklist uploaded?
Edits stay in the browser until you download or copy them.
How often should we revisit it?
After major releases and on a fixed cadence (for example quarterly), not once a year in a panic.
