Tips for EXIF metadata

Photos may contain GPS, device, and timestamp data.

Strip sensitive EXIF before sharing images publicly.

Edited exports sometimes remove or rewrite metadata.

Absence of EXIF does not mean the image is “clean” of other leaks.

Only analyze images you are allowed to inspect.

Metadata that photos still carry

Processing stays in your browser — your input is not uploaded to our servers.

EXIF can include camera model, timestamps, and sometimes GPS. This reader shows what is still embedded after you pick a file locally.

Strip metadata before you publish a photo from home or a workplace if that location should stay private.

Read EXIF

  1. Choose an image

JPEG from a phone is the usual case. Some apps already stripped tags.

  2. Scan the tags

GPS and serial numbers are the sensitive ones. Dates can leak a timeline too.

  3. Decide whether to publish

Export a stripped copy from your editor if anything should not travel with the picture.

EXIF FAQ

Does the photo upload?

No. Tags are read in the browser.

Why is GPS missing?

The OS or messenger may have stripped it, or the camera never wrote it.

Can I edit EXIF here?

This page is a reader. Use an editor that explicitly strips or rewrites tags.
