Uses public RDAP over HTTPS (not classic WHOIS port 43).

Tips for RDAP / WHOIS

RDAP is the modern HTTPS replacement for many WHOIS use cases.

Privacy redaction is common — registrant fields may be empty.

Rate limits and coverage vary by registry; retries may help.

For abuse, use the abuse contact in the response when present.

This is not a substitute for official registry tools or legal process.

RDAP/WHOIS-style facts for a domain or IP

The domain or IP you type is sent to the public RDAP service (rdap.org). Do not look up names without a reason.

The lookup asks the public RDAP service for registration objects: registrar, nameservers, status. The query string you type is sent to rdap.org.

Privacy redaction is normal. Empty fields usually mean the registry hides them, not that the tool failed.

Look up a domain or IP

  1. Enter a domain or IP

example.com or a public address. Internationalized names should be in the form RDAP expects.

  2. Run RDAP

Wait for the JSON summary. Rate limits on public RDAP will show as errors.

  3. Copy the fields you need

Nameservers and expiry (when present) are the usual ticket paste.

WHOIS / RDAP FAQ

Is this classic WHOIS port 43?

It uses RDAP over HTTPS via rdap.org, which is the modern replacement for many WHOIS servers.

Why is the registrant hidden?

GDPR-style redaction. The registry is allowed to omit personal contacts.

Does the query stay in the browser only?

No. The domain or IP is sent to RDAP. Do not look up names you have no reason to investigate.
