Tips for speed tests

Close bandwidth-heavy apps and pause large downloads for a cleaner reading.

Wi‑Fi and VPN often cut peak throughput versus a wired path.

Run the test twice — the second pass can be higher after TCP warm-up.

Numbers reflect the path to Cloudflare, not every site on the internet.

Mobile networks throttle and fluctuate; treat results as a snapshot.

Browser bandwidth against a public CDN

The tool downloads and uploads timed payloads to Cloudflare’s speed endpoints and reports latency plus Mbps.

Latency is the median of several small requests. Download and upload skip a short warm-up transfer so TCP slow-start does not dominate the Mbps figure.

Traffic goes to Cloudflare, not our servers. A VPN, captive portal, or browser extension can change what you see.

Run a speed test

  1. Start the test

Allow the page a minute: latency, then download, then upload.

  2. Read the metrics

Latency and jitter in ms; download and upload in Mbps. Server is the Cloudflare colo used.

  3. Copy if you need a record

Use Copy to paste the snapshot into a ticket or chat.

Speed test FAQ

Why does this differ from Speedtest.net?

Different servers, durations, and algorithms. Compare trends, not absolute Mbps across tools.

Do you store my results?

No. Measurement traffic goes to Cloudflare; we do not keep a history of your runs.

Why is upload much lower than download?

Many ISP plans are asymmetric. Wi‑Fi and upload congestion make that gap larger.
